Prosecco is doubtlessly among the most famous and appreciated wines all over the world.
Thanks to its versatile soul, it is suitable for every meal: from romantic dinners to quick business lunches to aperitives; and that is why everyone loves it so much!
Despite the pandemic, 2021 was an extraordinary year for the Italian sparkling wine par excellence. We are extremely proud to be part of this amazing phenomenon, and to celebrate its success, we would like to share some figures with you.
Record figures
In 2021, the DO Prosecco Doc set a new record, producing more than 627,5 million bottles.
This impressive number represents a growth of +25,4% over 2020 and Prosecco was not doing bad at all even before. A production of half billion bottles doesn’t go unnoticed!
Not to mention the international market, where in the first months of 2021 export grew of +30% over 2020.
What about Prosecco Rosé?
Last year was definitely a terrific one for this Doc, but we cannot forget that Prosecco Rosé was born as well.
Let’s have a look at its figures then.
On November 2nd 2020, Il Corriere Vinicolo published a very interesting analysis of rosé wines. The article forecasted the production of 50 million bottles for the new born Prosecco Rosé. Considering that it was the first year of the Rosé version in the market, that was a considerable quantity. This amount was largely outdone: 72 million bottles were produced.
That’s something, isn’t it? Don’t forget that we are talking about Prosecco: one of the most appreciated sparkling wines all over the world.
In these difficult years, we are proud of the incredible achievements that Prosecco reached: our Italian Genio.
